The clean water initiative is our project which is supported by the ACT Foundation focused on improving access to potable water in rural and underserved communities.
The initiative aims to achieve this through the installation of boreholes in some selected communities in southwest Nigeria and capacity building on Water Sanitation And Hygiene (WASH) for women, children, and community leaders.
Communities are selected based on a survey of “communities with poor access to potable water”.
In 3 years, the Clean Water Initiative project which focuses on improving access to potable water, adequate sanitation facilities and hygiene education especially for women and girls in rural and underserved communities across Nigeria has reached over 150,000 women, men, and children across 65 communities in Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Ondo, Osun and Delta State.
The initiative has successfully installed electricity-powered boreholes in these communities and conducted capacity-building activities highlighting on the importance of safe water and proper sanitation and hygiene practices.
The project aims to reach more people in underserved communities with WASH services.
