Nigeria has a large youth population — the majority are poor and unemployed. Unemployment is one of the most challenging issues facing the country — averaging 23.63% from 2014 until 2018 and reaching 38% in the second quarter of 2018. Youth (aged 15-35) unemployment increased from 13.7% in Q3 2015 to 19.1% in Q3 2016 to 25.5% in Q3 2017 — and to 30.50% in Q2 2018. To reduce the rate of unemployment and eradicate poverty, it is pertinent to recognize entrepreneurship as a major catalyst for economic growth.
