Economic Empowerment

HACEY / Empowerment and Education / Economic Empowerment

Nigeria has a large youth population — the majority are poor and unemployed. Unemployment is one of the most challenging issues facing the country — averaging 23.63% from 2014 until 2018 and reaching 38% in the second quarter of 2018. Youth (aged 15-35) unemployment increased from 13.7% in Q3 2015 to 19.1% in Q3 2016 to 25.5% in Q3 2017 — and to 30.50% in Q2 2018. To reduce the rate of unemployment and eradicate poverty, it is pertinent to recognize entrepreneurship as a major catalyst for economic growth.

Our economic empowerment project aims at promoting productivity among youths: And improving their livelihoods through sustainable income-generating activities. We provide entrepreneurship development and capacity building activities to the youths and women.

Our major project activities include entrepreneurship training and business support. Our current economic empowerment project is “Back on Track”.
